Canyon MTB marathon team partnerss with SIDI


One of the most successful elite mountain bike marathon racing teams has announced a new name and ambitious plans for the start of the 2024 racing season.

Team CANYON NORTHWAVE MTB, has announced a new title partner: SIDI, the top italian footwear brand for cycling and motorsports.

The team, who won during the last 4 years 4 world championship medals including one gold by Andreas Seewald in 2021 will remain led by Kristian Hynek, a former top world racer, three-time medalist from world championships and winner of the 2014 Cape Epic, it will be named CANYON SIDI MTB TEAM. The relationship between Sidi and the Team has been signed for two seasons.

We visited their headquarters in Italy where their main production is and we were amazed by their new development and crafts. Now with SIDI we are entering the 2024 season in new colors, in a proven line-up and with great ambitions to score a great and succesfull year.” says Kristian Hynek.

We are really happy to team with Kristian and his team: we feel completely aligned and they will be a greater input and testing for next generation of offroad footwear“ says Sidi CEO, Davide Rossetti.

The CANYON SIDI MTB team will continue to feature Andreas Seewald (DE), the 2021 world champion, Martin Stošek (CZ), the 2023 world vice-champion, Marc Stutzman (CH), the current Swiss champion and Stefanie Dohrn Walter (DE).

The team is currently undergoing its first stage race, the Mediterranean Epic in Spain, followed by the 6-day Andalusia Bike Race. The highlight of the team’s spring campaign will be the Cape Epic in South Africa. For Cape Epic, the team will again be strengthened by former World Tour racer and current Canyon gravel rider Petr Vakoč.

The season highlight for Canyon SIDI MTB will be September‘s World Championships in the USA, where Seewald, Stošek, Stutzman and Dohrn Walter will be gunning for success. Several other important events include the Gdynia’s European Championships in June, the various national championships and the XCM World Cup series, which begin in Nové Město na Moravě in May.

In addition to SIDI, the team is also welcoming new partner Stages, for the supply of highly accurate MTB power meters. Stages join an impressive list of equipment and accessory suppliers including CANYON, Future Cycling, DT Swiss, Force, Shimano, Paul Lange, Topeak, Schwalbe, Koscom, Alpina and 226ers.
