Vitus Gravity Enduro Series Championships at Mt Leinster

Last week, on the weekend of August 24th & 25th, saw the Vitus Gravity Enduro series arrive at Mount Leinster, on the border of counties Carlow and Wexford, for the 2016 National Championships. If riders were expecting conditions like the dusty dry trails found at the EWS Crankworx Whistler, which was held on the same weekend, they were to be sorely dissapointed. Rain in the days leading up to the race had converted the trails into a mud bath. Post race reactions included comments like “wet & sliddery”, “physically & technically demanding” and “toughest race ever”. Even professional EWS rider Greg Callaghan, who successfully defended his Irish National Championship title, commented that he’d “never ridden anything so muddy”.
