As soon as the UCI season finishes we enter the ‘Silly Season’.
Generally, the silly season sees a gentle reshuffling of riders and teams.
The end of 2023 saw an unprecedented numbe rof riders announcing they were leaving various downhill and enduro moutnain bike racing teams, and even entire teams announcing that they would not be racing in the upcoming season.
Arguable one of the most talked about announcements during that period was the news that Greg Minnaar would be leaving the Santa Cruz Syndicate after 15 seasons, 22 race wins and 3 UCI World Cup titles.
Speculation as to his next move was rife on social media with all sorts of wild theories including his retirement.
However, GOAT fans, rest assured, Greg Minnaar is not hanging up his race helmet.
Say hello to Greg Minnaar, the new captain of the Norco Factory Racing Team, mentor to our junior development program, “The Source”, and advisor on all things technical.
Yes, that’s right, Greg isn’t just here for a good time. He’s here to create a legacy and to build the fastest team, on the fastest bike downhill racing has ever seen.
