Congratulations are in order: YT MOB athlete Oisin O’Callaghan has landed his first-ever elite victory in Snowshoe, USA.
To earn a spot on the podium is the dream for any racer, but to land in the No. 1 spot is the pinnacle. With it, Oisin makes history as the first Irish athlete to win a Mountain Bike World Cup.
“I’m speechless, to win and get my first podium, it’s a real shock. It’s been a while since my junior days when standing on the podium was my expectation – back then, I was disappointed if I didn’t win. I’m honoured to now stand on top of the podium against the field we currently race. It’s amazing to have an Irish 1-2, with me and Ronan Dunne on the podium. This one’s for everyone at home, we’re flying the flag high.” - Oisin O’Callaghan
It’s been a long journey for Oisin, from the MOB WORLD TOUR in Fort William to becoming Junior World Champion.
To make it an even bigger day for the Irish mountain biking history books, Nukeproof rider Ronan Dunne claimed the second step on the podium in Showshoe, his best result to date in the Mountain Bike World Cup.
