I joined the Tralee Bay MTB crew for a treck up and over the Old Kenmare Road starting from Derrycunihy Church. The initial climb up was hard work. And with a couple of very cold swollen streams to cross our feet started off cold as. The views from the top of the climb were phenomenal though. Descending down the Kenmare side was exhilerating, even once we hit the tarmac road leading into the town. A quick stop off at Mick & Jimmy’s Restaurant - the only coffee shop we could find open on Sunday morning - for some Americanos and pastries, before turning around and doing the whole thing in reverse. Going back the climb up is even harder. But the descent, while not as continuous as the first one, is very much worth the effort.
